A Worldwide Central Bank study, reflecting the trends in ‘Outsourcing' This study examined both existing and current trends relating to the transfer of note sorting and other currency functions from central banks to the commercial sector. Recommendations were incorporated in this review, and reflected the efficiencies that could be achieved.

A U.K. assignment recently considered and agreed a ‘Fitness Standard' for notes in circulation, with the Bank of England. The team considered ways of maximizing the cost benefits from the utilization of note sorting equipment in the commercial sector. In a wider context, the worldwide practices and standards were examined and compared.

Currency Research has also undertaken studies of ‘Country Automation' to establish the cost benefits of integrating many currency related activities into a consolidated or centralized structure.
