Excellence in Currency Awards

The Currency Awards program was designed to promote and recognize the excellence in the industry. The awards are open to any organization or individual supplying products, systems or services and anyone can make a nomination for a category. Nominations are being accepted for the following categories: (Nominations must be in by February 1, 2010)

  • Best New Banknote or Banknote Series
  • Best New Coin or Coin Series
  • Best New Currency Feature
  • Best New Currency Product
  • Best New Currency Innovation
  • Best Public Education Program
  • Best Currency Website
  • Outstanding Achievement Award
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

The Awards Committee (made up of IACA member delegates) will vote to determine the top 3 nominations for each category. The IACA membership will then vote for their favorite in each category. The winners will be announced at the 2010 Currency Conference-May 9-12, 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina (www.currencyconference.com)

2008 Awards

Keith Cottrell, Director of Sales at The Royal Mint receives the award from Richard Haycock.Called by some "The Oscars of the Currency Industry" the individuals and companies honoured with 2008 Awards for Excellence in Currency were announced on 14 October at the Currency Conference in Prague.

The awards, which are sponsored by Currency News, are designed to promote excellence in currency, in currency production, processing, management and distribution and are open to any organization or individual products and systems of the currency industry, as well as issuing authorities, commercial banks and enforcement agencies.

Winner: Central Bank of Venezuela for the new Strong Bolivar series
Runners up: Czech National Bank for the CZK1,000

Winner: Royal Mint for the new British coin series
Runners up: Canadian Mint for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics collection
                        South African Mint for the Nelson Mandela 5 Rand

BEST NEW CURRENCY PROCESS OR SYSTEM
Winner: Goznak for its new thread embedding process
